How to Develop Presentation Skills

- Know your subject. Being well prepared with great research and knowledge of your topic is essential to delivering a skilled presentation. Having an expert handle on the subject matter convinces the audience that your information is pertinent.

-  Understand the audience before the presentation. Create your presentation with the audience in mind, understanding who they are and their backgrounds.

- Plan the presentation well in advance. Create a clear outline that strongly states the main ideas. Have a clear idea of what you hope to accomplish with the presentation and arrange your main points in a logical order.

- Tell the audience why you're topic is important and what you hope they learn from the presentation, State the main objectives clearly at the start of the presentation.

- Use supporting materials such as statistics, facts and figures to back up your points. Use clear, easy to see and read visual aids such as video, charts or graphs to clearly deminstrate main points.

- Anticipate questions the audience may have and how you'll answer those questions. No presentation is complete without a question and answer session. Address the questions to the best of your knowledge and provide resources for additional information on the subject.

- Summarize the main points at the end of the presentation. Before you conclude, quickly go over the topics discussed and provide a brief summation for the audience.
