When it comes to training purposes all of these categories are important but performance is the most important. Players want to get better, and a shoe that allows him to perform at his best will be the best for training.

Nike Air XIV
This shoe is widely rated to be the top basketball performer on the market. The sole offers superb traction and it allows players to cut and stop quickly. The shoe has excellent cushioning but it is not to soft or pillow-like. The lacing structure provides a snug fit. There are questions about durability and ankle support.

Huarache 2K5
This shoe has undergone signficant changes and provides much greater ankle support and stability than it has in the past. The front area is wider than it has been and it is more comfortable. This allows the basketball player to plant his feet and feel stable when cutting.

Ultraposite 1
The Ultraposite is one of the most comfortable and cushioned shoes available in the high-performance end of the basketball shoe specturm. The shoe allows for quick change of direction and stopping with limited wear and tear on the feet. The outside of the shoe tends to get scuffed easily.

Shox jump off
This shoe offers style, comfort and feels light while offering shockingly good protection from injury. The uppers are strong and pliable. The shoe's best characteristics are the explosiveness that it offers to its wearers.

Ultraflight
The Ultraflight is known for being a very light performance shoe. It is quite soft and has excellent breathability. It has a comfortable interior but it is somewhat on the narrow side so players with wide feet may want to go in a different direction.
